Books We Read in School in April 2011

April seemed like a  slow book month.  I think mainly this might be since we are done with our planned History and Science Curriculum I'm just are not reading as much every day.   Also because of a huge find of books at a rummage sale - my kids are happily reading on their own.

Two of the books are reading have very long chapter.

We have just one chapter left of Ginger Pye.  The kids are really enjoying this book, my dh is reading it and he isn't as keen on the style of the "prose"  but the kids are excited to find out who took Ginger Pye!

The Wheel on the School also has very long chapters we are 3/4 the way through this book.   While the story is great and we are enjoying it, it got pushed to the side by the two other books we read this month.

I especially liked reading this book - it reminded me of everything I liked about reading as a kid.  It is a great story about a girl who writes a novel and gets it published - but how she does that is the basis of this book.  Great, read, short quick chapters that make you want to read more.  I love those kind of books!

The Boxcar Children - is a classic - we had read this book before and my children even listened to it once on CD but when we found all 12 of the books at a rummage sale we are excited to be able to read this first book again and dive into the rest of the series.

We didn't get the lovely boxcar bookshelf - though I think it looks pretty neat.
